Our Scout Hut
With a fully-equipped Scout Hut opposite Portishead Youth Centre, we are perfectly placed to offer the young people of our town opportunities that might otherwise be out of their reach. This is made possible by 54 adult volunteers who work alongside our members in a wide range of roles and capacities.
Experience the outdoors
With Glenny Woods Campsite just a five minute drive away, and Woodhouse Park Scout Activity Centre just 15 minutes up the M5, our members can experience the outdoors in a truly unique way. Whether it’s campfires or crafting, giant water fights or gardening, our groups have a fantastic time learning valuable skills and discovering new talents.
Committed group of volunteers
1st Portishead Scouts is part of the international Scouts organisation, with all the resources and knowledge it offers. The huge range of activities and experiences are delivered by a committed group of volunteers, dedicated not only to giving children the best opportunities in life, but also ensuring as many of them as possible get to experience Scouting.
We combine past traditions with up-to-the-minute activities – so at any one time, members are likely to be working towards badges in everything from Communication and Information Technology to Gardening and Science.

“I love volunteering as a leader because I probably get as much out of Scouting as the Scouts do. I love the great outdoors and being involved with Scouting gives me the excuse to get out there and do some really interesting things. Being a leader definitely makes you feel that you are part of something bigger and there is a real sense of camaraderie and purpose.” - Matt Hall, Scout Leader
